Suddenly I was on an oval track, right near the ground level, and at first it seemed like I was observing from a dynamic spectator position, like a cool moving camera-angle, going against the direction of the cars on track.  I believe I saw a Porsche race car, then maybe something like a Lamborghini, so it was just a pleasant realization that I was on track or just witnessing an event with some high-quality, high-performance cars.  So I felt anticipation and excitement.  Then suddenly rather than observing from this camera, I was riding in a car, with a more overhead view, and this was like a designated event vehicle, like a pace car.  I was surprised that this car was being used in this way, driving against the flow of traffic on the formation lap seemed pretty absurd.  Whoever was driving felt the need to do it at greater speed, and I heard commentary along with what I was watching as the car was hugging the left edge of the track. The commentary was just in a play-by-play tone, made a reference to the car being at ‘full-boost’ and the guy was not seemingly as surprised at this unorthodox pre-race behavior as I was.  The oncoming cars dodged to get out of the way.  It all seemed ‘hairy’ and reckless to me.  Then suddenly some girl, who may have been driving one of the racecars on her formation lap, was invited to give the pre-race honors: “Start your engines!” So then the car I was in turned around and headed back from where it had come from, and I saw ahead on the track other cars ahead doing dough-nuts to get the tires warm before the start.
