Dream: Soup Search Hype Guy, Geriatric Checkout

I was in a big grocery store. It was dimly lit. I was looking for a particular thing: a 4-pack of soups that came in black tetra-packs.  I went through some of the aisles, and I recall seeing some portable, temporary, mid-aisle display shelf which had some individual boxes of these soups, but no multi-packs.  I found a store employee to help sort this out; hopefully he could point me toward the more permanent location in the store for these items.  We walked down the aisle from where I’d been before, noting the temporary shelves and individual boxes, then went on a more thorough search.  The guy who was helping me reminded me of celebrity fitness guy, Tony Little, in his general look and physique, and also his hype-like, over-the-top demeanor.  As we walked through the store, checking various spots, we got into a friendly disagreement about something; I’m not sure exactly what, but he seemed to be really keen on Leonardo DiCaprio.  I just patted him on the shoulder and smiled, as it was obviously not about soups or the business of the day so much as about his personal fan-boi obsession, so I wasn’t willing to get into it any further.

He was able to locate the part of the store where the soups resided, but unfortunately there were no multi-packs there either.  I decided to grab several of the individual boxes, then headed toward the registers.  I got closer to the checkout stands and noticed that only one or two of them were visible from my then current vantage point.  A bunch of people lined up for these, and I didn’t feel like waiting in a long line, so I moved forward and saw the space open up and reveal several other check-stands with virtually no lines.  I went to one that was open and put my stuff on the conveyor.  Suddenly my dad was there at the counter with me.  He struggled with the point-of-sale device.  There was a screen with the items and prices, and the total. He hit OK, but then had a senior-moment, as he got confused and errantly thought something was incorrect, tried to go back to the prior screen, double-tapped the button again, etc.  It didn’t alter or cancel the transaction; just caused a frustrating delay.
